Why we first check whether you actually need an app

30 May 2026·Raisberg·6 min read

The owner of a salon calls their manager every evening and asks the same questions. How many clients came today. Which master was busiest. How much we earned. The answer comes from memory or from an Excel sheet where half the formulas are broken. This is work that, in 2026, no human should be doing.

We build apps that take this kind of work away. Fewer mechanical clicks, less manual counting, more accurate numbers. But the first thing we do with your email is not draw a mockup. The first thing is a check.

The first thing we do - check

When a business owner writes to us, we don't start building right away. We ask one question: does this business actually need its own solution?

Most of the time - no. In our experience, off-the-shelf tools cover about 70% of small-business tasks. And if some ready-made tool solves your problem, we say so directly. We don't sell you a €3000 app that replaces a free account somewhere else.

For Raisberg, this is a simple rule. There are two of us, and we are developers, not a sales team. We have no reason to push anything on you. Why two developers without middle layers change the physics of a client conversation - we covered in the first post.

Off-the-shelf tools cover about 70%

If your task is booking in the service industry (hair, nails, massage) - there are ready-made tools for this. Fresha, Booksy, SimplyBook.me. Calendar, master selection, automatic reminders. You set it up in one evening.

For bookkeeping in Estonia, there is Merit Aktiva - free for up to 6 months, interface in Estonian, English, and Russian, direct connection to e-MTA for KMD-INF. Or SimplBooks. For invoices, email, and a simple website - dozens of tools.

If your wish is "the client picks a time and a master and gets an SMS reminder," - you don't need us. You need a Booksy account. We'll say so directly.

The 30% that off-the-shelf doesn't cover

The interesting part begins where the ready-made tool ends.

Take the same salon. Booksy lets the client book. But it won't show the owner which master is overloaded and which is sitting idle. It won't show which service brings the most revenue. It won't show how the load shifts across the week.

This analytics layer is exactly those 30%. The part where a general tool gives you the function but not the picture.

And this changes the schedule literally, not on paper. When you can see that one master has an empty Tuesday while another has no free slots on the same day, you can redistribute services or shift schedules in advance. Without analytics, this is decided by feel at the end of the month, when half the money has already been lost to idle time.

A concrete example. We built a manicure master a Telegram Mini App - booking, plus an admin panel where the owner sees the load of each master, the duration of each service, and where gaps form. You can get bookings from Booksy too. But this view - why the business is empty one week and bursting the next - you can't get off-the-shelf.

A one-minute check

Open a ready-made SaaS for your niche - Booksy, Fresha, Merit Aktiva, whatever fits. If it covers booking, client notifications, and a basic client database for you - stay there. Those are your 70%.

Our 30% start where at least one of three things is true: you have two or more roles with different access rights, you need consolidated analytics on top of a ready-made process, or you have custom relationships between entities - for example, "material ↔ service" with margin calculation. If any of these match - write to us.

One screen so the owner can sleep at night

The point of those 30% is simple. The owner should be able to open one screen and see everything - instead of calling someone every evening.

Key metrics of the day. Payroll. How much money is currently sitting in inventory. Which product is running out. Any numbers that matter for your business - we bring them onto one panel.

A business decision should rest on numbers, not on a feeling at 11pm. Often our job is not to give the owner a solution. Our job is to give them the data on which they will make the decision themselves. Precise and pointed, not emotional.

At one private dental clinic in Tallinn, such a screen freed up about 5 hours a week for the administrator - that used to go to manual reconciliation between several spreadsheets. The number isn't loud, but it's half a day every week.

From Excel to a system - without the shock

We talk to many owners, and the pattern repeats.

At some point bookkeeping was done on paper, in a notebook. Then everyone moved to Excel. Now Excel is straining. Formulas drift, one number lives on 15 sheets at once, no one remembers where it came from. Finding the right figure takes half an hour.

We don't propose ripping Excel out in one day. We make the transition gradual. We can build a system into which you upload your current Excel files, and the system extracts the right numbers from them. The team continues working as before, the data simply stops getting lost.

The sharp jump is exactly what kills most transitions. People aren't afraid of a new tool - they're afraid of the day the old one stops working and the new one isn't clear yet. Our job is to remove that day.

Your request is really a consultation

If you aren't sure whether there's already a ready-made solution for your problem or not - write to us. That's the point. Your email to raisberg.ee isn't an order. It's a consultation where we find the pain points together.

Describe the situation. What takes the most time. What keeps getting lost. What wakes you up at night. You don't need a finished technical plan - 3-5 sentences about the problem is enough.

What happens next is simple. If there's already a ready-made solution on the market that will help your business, we'll say so directly and name the tool. If we see that we can help more ourselves - within 24 hours we'll send a free mockup of what we'd build: with a fixed price, deadline, and scope (what such a mockup looks like - three examples for different project types). AI automation starts for us at €1500, MVP at €2500. But we'll only get to a price once we're sure a solution is actually needed.

Write to info@raisberg.ee or leave a description on the raisberg.ee main page. Honesty in both directions - including when the honest answer sounds like "you don't need us."
